2/27/06 $3 rebuy on Stars

2/27/2006

Wow. 2500 person $3 rebuy on Stars. Went all-in on 1st hand with JJ and hit a J on the flop vs A rag to double up and never looked back. Hit an OESD right before the break then added on at the 1st break to go from 18k to 20k and spent a LOT of time in the top ten until about the last hour. Couldn't pick up a hand but played well. Inside of 90 people left after almost 5 hours of play when this hand came up:

There's no justice in poker.....sigh..... Tournaments are for suckers.

Bankroll $4,057.77 $42.91 net profit. Oh well. I played very well but had a couple of horrible beats towards the end. That's poker. Not bad for a $6 investment lol.

Week Ending 2/25/06

2/24/2006
($26.00)
2 $13 6 person sngs. The streak ended in style. 7 straight cashes with 5 of the 7 1sts. On my 2nd hand I got KK on the BB and raised with 1 limper and then the SB went allin. I called of course along with the limper. He had AA vs AJ on SB. K on flop and case ace on the river. Streak over lol. Oh well. The AA guy said 'justice' after the hand. I said 'there is no justice in poker'. lol. He agreed. Went out with 1010 in a race vs AJ on next one and then I went out of town for the weekend to see the Aggies play basketball vs. Nebraska.

Bankroll at $4,014.86. Up $94.05 for the week.

Nice streak going

2/21/2006
($19.30) Stars
1 $3.30 rebuy event for $9.30 (898th out of 2500 when my A10 couldn't win a race against J10) and 1 $10 transfer for a last longer bet. The rebuy event was a lot of fun. I'm gonna try and run these at least once a week. They end up being deep stack tournies after the add-on period. The 20% prize structure makes it as worthwhile as most MTTs imo. It was weird tight at my table during the rebuy period. The 1st hand even folded to me on the button!

2/21/2006
$3,983.16
$81.65
so much for my downswing in sngs. I stopped playing turbos and have done very well in the 6 person sngs. I have won 4 of my last 5 in fact. Crazy. Also lost an $11 MTT out in 126th out of 172 players.

Update

Just played 12 sngs or so this week. Amazing streak of non-cashes. I think my worst before this week was 5 or 6.
2/18/2006
$3,904.51
$15.55 Bodog
$50 bonus and and my worst sng losing streak ever. 10 straight without cashing! Wow. Finally won a 6 person $13 sng today.
2/18/2006
$3,887.01
($17.50) stars
part of my 10 straight losing sngs. Finally broke the string with a heads up $11 sng win

Change of Gears - Bodog

Still in recovery this month. Bumping along at lower stakes and enjoying BoDog for a change of pace.

2/8/2006
$3,858.92
($3.50)
10 minutes .5/1 6 max on PP. Party Poker hates me lol.
2/10/2006
$3,859.93
$1.01
various low stakes endeavors in the past 3 days on stars. :)
2/9 to 2/11/2006
$3,888.96
$29.03
lets seeā€¦. 8th in a 120 person $4.40 MTT for a cash of a whopping $12 (lost on the river with 66 or I would've had a chance for the 'huge' bucks). :P An $11 MTT loss. A 10 person sng $5.50 loss. A hugely blown chip lead in a 6 person $13 sng and another hugely blown chip lead (5k to 1k when down to 3) in a $13 6 person sng but I still managed to cash in 2nd. The blinds go up so fast that it's certainly much more of a crap shoot when it gets down to 3 and 2 handed. A heads up $5.50 loss. Today I played in 2 10 person turbo sngs and snagged a 1st and 2nd for a net gain of $29 since signing up with BoDog. It's been a nice change of pace but the software is buggy and there's not a ton of traffic on the site. We'll see if I can work up my money to something substantial just playing sngs and an occasional MTT.

Up $65.39 on the young month. Woo-hoo! ;)

Wow, I look back at my stats and I really wonder why I couldn't have just stuck to 2/4 BadBeat when I was down $150 for the month with a day or two to go. I really let my ego and the 'I've never had a losing month' thing sabotage my bankroll a little bit. Ah well, live and learn. I think I also learned that 5/10 full ring on party has plenty of weak players. I got sucked out on at those limits at least as much as at 2/4. The players are more aggressive but not much better - at least the ones on the badbeat side. Anyway, I'll file it away for time when I can grind my way back up there. For this month it's sng city on BoDog.

20 minute session

Done for today.

LOL, you wouldn't believe how many sets I had in 20 minutes. I always wonder what that would be like to have a nice rush at 5/10. Why don't those $500 upticks almost never happen? Yea, I know. I suck. :)

Meh. I had a nice rush at ONE 3/6 table in my last party poker session. I made like $200 in a couple of hours on one table. It can happen I guess.

2/7/2006
$3,862.42
$10.18
20 minutes of short handed play and 1 3.40 turbo that I busted out in 6th

Getting on with it

Still on the mend from my latest downswing. I've been just putting along at PokerStars playing little sit n gos here and there and playing a little shorthanded limit.

My friend deposited $50 in BoDog last Friday and ran it up to $250 playing mostly low level sit n gos so I think I'll check that out this week. I can get 20% rakeback there so I think I check it out.

The break from the grind and losing streak has been very good for my game. It's important to be able to clear your head every now and then.

2/4/2006
$18.22
several 18 person and 9 person sit n gos and a little bit (like 10 hands) of short handed .25/.50 and 1/2.
2/6/2006
$3,852.24
$10.45
a couple of 10 person and 18 person sit n gos and a little more shorthanded limit .25/.50 and .50/1

1/31/2006
($215.96)
3 hours 3/6 and 2 5/10 tables. Horrible luck continues. Oh well. Time for an extended break.

Bankroll now $3,823.57 . Back to where I was on 11/21/05.

Cashed out $800 to tide me over this month and then I'll be back with a vengence on the 2/4 tables March 1st. I really thought I played well but downturns are like that. Gotta take the good with the bad.

I've been playing a little bit on Stars on the sit and gos as I have almost $200 over there so I'll see how I do with that in February playing for funsies.
